How Brother HL-1110 Measures Toner Cartridge Page Yield and Where to Download Linux Drivers

I bought another new mono laser Brother HL-1110 for Barcode, QR code, and formal document. The toner cartage is cheap and has 1,000 page yield. But why some people complain for just 300 page yield? Let’s take a look at the numbers.

How to Measure Toner Cartridge Page Yield

Wiki: ISO/IEC 19752 is widely used to measure how much page yield for a mono laser toner cartridge.  Sometime it is labeled as “number of printed pages at 5% coverage”. You may bought it in ISO.

Brother Genuine Monochrome Toner Cartridge Testing Method for Determining State Page Yield Based on ISO/IEC19752 Standard explains how it is measured but didn’t mention if the toner save is enabled. You may see test sample in page 4 as Figure 1 Test Pattern Used in ISO/IEC 19752.

Linux Driver

While most budget last printers don’t provide Linux drivers, HL-1110 provides Linux drivers.

But if you follow the [Support & Download] tab in HL-1110, you will be redirect to download drivers for another model. Please get your drivers from HL-1110 Downloads for Linux (rpm). You may select other OS and language, too.
